O2 wins massive BMW contract from Voda

Contract for UK and Germany thought to be worth 25,000 handsets

O2 has scored a massive multinational corporate contract with BMW, its third big win from rival Vodafone in as many months.

The deal covers Germany and the UK, and is understood to be worth around 20,000 handsets in Germany and up to 5,000 in the UK. It follows big contract wins with Network Rail in the UK, for 23,000 handset lines, and industrial company Saint Gobain, won ahead of Vodafone among others and worth 6,000 lines.

O2 UK director of business sales Ben Dowd said: “It was a group bid, a multinational win; from Vodafone. When you take the fact it’s Germany and the UK on one account, it’s a very big win for Telefónica."
