Cell Phone Usage Increaes as Landline Usage Decreases

It will come as no surprise to many of us that the old landline is declining in usage as more and more people become mobile phone only users. I can certainly understand that, I haven’t had a landline in years and have never looked back—except when I need to send a fax.
A Harris Interactive poll of 9132 adults showed that a full 9 in 10 of adults have a wireless phone. The 1 out of 10 adults who don’t own a phone is probably comprised of all the grandmothers out there who still can’t figure out the new fangled cordless phones and cling to their old rotary phone.
The report also shows that 1 in 5 adults don’t have a land line and 1 in 7 adults only use a cell phone. I’m betting that a significant number of the 1 in 7 that use cell phones exclusively and still have a land line do so for DSL Internet access and the ability to send a fax. Or perhaps they have an elderly grandmother living with them.
